Palera1n 2.2 Released: Adds Jailbreak Support for iPadOS 18.4 and tvOS 18.4

The developer team behind Palera1n has officially launched version 2.2. This major update extends the popular checkm8-based jailbreak to compatibility with Apple’s latest software builds, specifically targeting users running iPadOS 18.4 and tvOS 18.4.

If you are holding onto a checkm8-compatible device and want to customize your experience on the newest firmware, this release ensures your hardware remains supported.

Supported Devices & Systems

The Palera1n 2.2 update introduces official compatibility for the following devices running version 18.4 or later:

  • iPadOS 18.4: iPad (7th Generation)
  • tvOS 18.4: Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st Generation)

Vital Deployment Notes

Before updating your device or running the tool, there are a few critical technical constraints to keep in mind:

⚠️ Hardware Limitations (A11 and Older Only) Because Palera1n relies strictly on the hardware-level checkm8 bootrom exploit, it only supports devices equipped with A8 through A11 chipsets. It will not work on newer arm64e architecture (A12 processors or higher).

  • Tweak Compatibility Warnings: Apple introduced significant internal architectural shifts starting in iOS/iPadOS 18.4. Because of these fundamental changes, expect a temporary decrease in tweak stability compared to older firmware like 18.3.2 while developers update their packages.
  • Requirements for FakeFS/BindFS: If you intend to utilize a FakeFS or BindFS setup on your device, the system architecture must have been booted at least once using a previous Palera1n build (versions 2.0.1 through 2.1b2). Missing this prerequisite step will cause the jailbreak to fail on version 2.2.
